Annual Seed Sale
We deeply appreciate your kindness and support. That support has allowed us to transition from having a fundraiser to having a seed sale.
In response to the huge demand for our seed we have decided to limit the varieties we're offering in order to focus on producing more seed of our two best selling varieties, 'New Parchment' and 'Melon'. We increased growing area for those varieties, brought in help and invested in streamlining the seed cleaning process. We are thrilled to be able to offer these two varieties in much greater quantities and expect to have enough to meet the demand for the first time!
We will be offering a minimum of 20 seeds in each packet.
As much as we want to keep our prices as low as possible so that more people can have access to the seeds, in order to make the improvements, mentioned above, we are finding ourselves in the position of having to increase our seed packets from $12.00 to $17.00 each (plus tax and shipping as before). Even with the increase, our price is on the lower end of costs for privately developed seeds. Still, to help balance that cost we are working to reduce shipping costs and expect a net increase of just a couple of dollars per packet. As soon as we can confirm the shipping costs we'll update it here and we appreciate your continued support.

New Parchment
New Parchment is a fan favorite variety in versatile, soft colors that range from buff, linen, blush, light cantaloupe to whipped butter. Later in the season tones of caramel can present themselves in some of the buttery colors. A third generation line, its abundant petals form 3"-4" domes on long sturdy stems on plants that grow 3 to 4' tall. The large blooms are excellent for event work and bridging other colors in design work as well as market bouquets and large installations. New Parchment is a generous bloomer and a remarkably prolific seed producer making it valuable introducing into breeding work.

'Melon'
Melon is a new variety with large 4-6 inch double blooms covered in stacks of petals. Colors include casaba melon, light watermelon (like that spot where the rind transitions to the fruit) and cantaloupe, with subtle variations of each. The colors ombre to richer tones as they age and as the season lengthens. The plants get to four feet tall and have sturdy stems that easily hold the heavy blooms without being too thick. These large blooms command attention and are easily used for gorgeous focal flowers, in large scale arrangements or as space-filling blooms in market bouquets. They can also be used in their early mature form for smaller scale work.
BLOMMA'S ANNUAL SEED SALE - Coming Monday, January 26th, 2026
For those interested in obtaining our Zinnia elegans seed, will are offering our exclusive seed from our summer 2025 breeding program while supplies last.
This will be the only opportunity in 2026 for you to receive our seed.
WHY?
There has been so much demand for our zinnia seed that we have decided to give more space to zinnia seed production. We're still growing smaller quantities of our other varieties in development. This sale is intended to support our breeding efforts and get these wonderful new varieties into your hands. Your purchase will allow us to continue to bring you the beautiful varieties you've fallen in love with and to further develop the latest beauties you saw last summer as well as breed for other new, wonderful surprises. We want to be able to continue to develop our seeds to make them available to everyone so that you can grow these blooms on your farm to sell, in your garden to add our genetics to what you already have, or just to enjoy. We kindly ask, in support of our efforts, that you do not resell our seed.
Our quantities are no match for large scale breeders, but we have worked to increase quantities and expect ample quantities to help to reduce shopping stress and improve your purchasing experience.
ABOUT THE SEED
The seed we are offering as part of this sale will be a packet of either 'New Parchment' or Melon'. Even in these isolated seed mixes we can't guarantee exactly what will bloom out of the individual mix you receive, given these are not fully developed varieties.
However, what we can guarantee is that all the seeds we are sending have been collected from double flowers only. While some singles may still pop up, the majority should be semi-doubles or doubles. You can also expect the majority of blooms in the range of colors associated with the varieties from the selection shown above. Part of the fun of custom bred zinnias is waiting to see what the blooms are! While most should be very similar to those pictured, it's possible you may grow new colors and forms that no one has ever seen before.
It is also possible, due to zinnia genetics, you will also see a small percentage of more typical bright colors pop up as these varieties are still in the development process.
For those who want to save seed from their Blomma zinnias this summer, we recommend sowing 4-6 weeks indoors before your last frost and planting out once the chance of frost has passed. If you don't get frost, wait until your nighttime lows are consistently above 55°F to plant. Cull any plants with colors or other traits that you don't care for as soon as you identify them to avoid unwanted crosses. Allow the remainder to cross as you wish or isolate special keepers for your own use to hand pollinate.
